FAQ´ s

1. Why should I clean and seal my natural stone?

Natural stone is very porous in composition and unless it is sealed will continue to absorb dirt and moisture. Cleaning and sealing will make maintenance easy by protecting natural stone from dirt and other harmful elements.

2. What will cause my natural stone to become loose?

1. Flooding (tiles which are submerged in water)
2. Extreme humidity and extreme heat.
3. Heavy construction in nearby area.
4. Age of the floor and/or poor installation in some cases.

3. How much does the restoration process cost?

The price varies according to the condition of the natural stone, the size of the area, the aggregate exposure desired and the final finishing sealer required. Prices to suit your particular project are available from us on request.

4. How do I maintain my floors shine after restoration?

Cleaners that contain acid or bleach should never be used for cleaning natural stone floors. An acidic cleaner, even a light solution of vinegar and water will etch and damage natural stone floors when used for a prolonged period of time. Continued use of acidic cleaners will also break down the chemical bonds in the natural stone as well as strip the pigmentation. Acidic cleaners will also wear away the finish of natural stone and the stone will start to wear away and loose lustre.

5. Is the polished natural stone not going to be slippery?

No, the surface is made non slip and made safe underfoot by our experienced technicians.

Restoration of stone is the restoring of worn stone to the state in which it was installed. Restoration is a process that can only be done by a professional stone restoration company. Your typical maintenance, janitorial or carpet and grout cleaning company will not have the proper tools or experience required to restore natural stone.

10. Will Renomar´s treatment be effective for exterior stone floors?

If exterior stone floors are not treated with Renomar´s U.V. protected products, the natural stone will absorb water each time rain falls or in humid conditions. Once this stone is heated by sunlight, the evaporation will cause the stone to loose valuable minerals resulting in brittleness and cracking.
